Window Cleaning in North York

North York has two skylines. One runs up Yonge Street from Sheppard to Finch, where the office towers and condos of North York Centre sit on top of the subway line. The other is the ring of newer condo clusters around Bayview Village, Don Mills and Yonge and Sheppard. Between them are some of the largest detached houses in the city, in York Mills, the Bridle Path and Willowdale.

Tru Vue has worked across North York since 1993, from our shop just north of Steeles in Concord.

Towers along Yonge

Most of the tall glass in North York is either an office building on the Yonge corridor or a condo tower managed by a property management company. Both get the same treatment from us: we look at the roof anchors, the drops and what is at the bottom of each one before we quote, then pick between rope access, bosun chair and swing stage for each elevation. The details are on our high-rise window cleaning page. Condo boards usually want the building on a set schedule, which is what our condo and property management program is for.

The 401 problem

The 401 cuts straight through North York, and it is the busiest highway in North America. Buildings within a few blocks of it, and of the DVP and Allen Road, get a grey film of exhaust and road spray on the glass that builds up faster than it does anywhere else in the city. In winter that film carries salt, which etches glass if it sits for a season. For those buildings, cleaning the lower floors more often than the rest is usually the most cost-effective plan.

Hospitals, campuses and plazas

North York has a lot of institutional glass: Sunnybrook, North York General, and the York University campus among them. Work at medical and campus buildings has to be scheduled around patients, students and entrances that cannot close, and we plan it that way. Plazas along Bathurst, Finch and Sheppard are mostly ground-floor storefront work, done before opening.

Large homes

The houses in York Mills, Hoggs Hollow and the Bridle Path often have more glass than a small office. Tall foyer windows, conservatories and skylights are quoted after a walk-through. The details are on our residential window cleaning page.

Common questions

Do you clean condo towers in North York?

Yes. Condo and office towers across North York are cleaned using rope access, bosun chairs or swing stages. Most condo buildings are set up on a recurring schedule through the property manager.

How often should windows near the 401 be cleaned?

Buildings close to the 401, the DVP or Allen Road collect exhaust and salt film faster than most. Ground-floor glass on these properties usually needs cleaning monthly or every other month, while upper floors can often stay on a twice-a-year cycle.

How much does window cleaning cost in North York?

The price depends on the building height, access method, number of elevations and how often it is cleaned. Houses are priced by size and number of windows. Tru Vue gives free written estimates.

Can you work around hospital or campus operations?

Yes. Work at medical and institutional buildings is scheduled around entrances, patient areas and busy hours, and interior work can be done outside normal hours.
