Mississauga is a big city to cover, and the work changes a lot from one end to the other. City Centre around Square One is condo towers, some of the tallest outside Toronto. The Airport Corporate Centre and the business parks in Meadowvale and along the 401 are offices and warehouses. Port Credit and Lorne Park are older, leafy and close to the lake. The towers around Square One, Burnhamthorpe and Confederation are tall, glass-heavy and exposed, with nothing around them to block the wind. That makes them high-rise jobs planned carefully around roof anchors and weather. We pick rope access, bosun chair or swing stage for each elevation, and we do the work between spring and late fall, when suspended work can run safely. Most of these buildings come to us through their property managers under a recurring program.
The Airport Corporate Centre, Meadowvale and the business parks along the 401 and 410 are full of low and mid-rise offices and industrial units. Being under the flight path and next to the highways, the glass on these buildings collects a fine, oily grime that a quick rinse will not lift. Front glass is on a commercial schedule. Upper floors without anchors are reached with an aerial lift, and warehouse skylights can be done on the same visit.
Heartland Town Centre and the plazas along Hurontario, Dundas and Erin Mills Parkway are mostly ground-floor storefront glass, done early before stores open.
Homes and storefronts near the lake deal with wind off Lake Ontario, which leaves a film on the south-facing windows faster than anywhere inland. Port Credit, Lorne Park and Clarkson also have a lot of big old trees, so the fall visit usually includes eavestrough cleaning.
